World's Tallest Roller Coaster
Cedar Point's Top Thrill Dragster

(May 30, 2003)

Imagine this: You rocket 420 feet in the air and then plummet to Earth at more than 120 miles per hour down a single steel track all within 17 seconds! Hard to believe but you can now experience this unforgettable thrill on the new Top Thrill Dragster roller coaster at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.

Dragster, which is designed to look like a dragster race car with giant fins and Goodyear tires, is the tallest coaster in the world and cost a whopping $25 million to construct. It promises "the ultimate ride of your life" and let me tell you this is one oh-so-intense-white-knuckles experience. Whoosh and you're off powering from 0 to 120 miles per hour in just four seconds - - it's so quick it literally takes the air out of your lungs! When air returns to your lungs you are rendered into a screaming lunatic as things happen so quickly. After reaching the top Dragster bolts down a 270-degree spiral and near-vertical drop. Then just like that it's over with a very gentle stop. My stomach is in knots, my hair is a mess, and I am just thankful I didn't hurl. It's time to run back in line and do it all over again!

For decades, Cedar Point has had a reputation as the park with the tallest, fastest and wildest coasters. With Dragster, Cedar Point keeps on innovating and will definitely thrill theme park connoisseurs.
