Grand Lido Braco. Photo by Anita Dunham-Potter Sprawled over 85 lush, beachside acres Grand Lido Braco is a lavish presence along Jamaica 's northern coast.  The hotel's drive is flanked by emerald green golf courses and when you come upon the resort's Georgian gingerbread architecture you feel as if you have stepped back in time into a world fire-walled against stress and urgency.

The resort is styled to mimic an old-fashioned Jamaican village, the highlight being an authentic town square complete with fountains, cobblestone streets, boutiques, art galleries, and open-air cafes. A stately Town Hall serves as the resort's reception area where upon check-in guests are treated to refreshing drinks and cold towels. Looking beyond the town square the resort opens up to a beautiful swimming pool, complete with picturesque ocean views. Drinks in hand, guests soon find themselves swaying to mellow reggae tunes and ultimately anticipating days of relaxation, recreation, dining and entertainment included in one, up-front price.

Suites

The resort also offers a separate au natural section with private nude beach, clubhouse, pool and hot tubs. The area is very secluded and is separated by an ocean wall. Grand Lido Braco. Photo by Anita Dunham-Potter

Dining

Dining at the resort is a sumptuous experience with varieties to suit every appetite -ranging from haute French cuisine to sushi to traditional Jamaican delicacies and more. Breakfast and lunch are served al fresco in the buffet-style Victoria Market. Also for lunch, Nanny's Jerk Pit offers an authentic taste of Jamaica.

For a romantic dinner, guests will find the elegant French venue Piacere "manifique." For a more lively dining experience, Japanese cuisine and sushi are served at Munahana where the table front cooking is a show in itself. Other choices for dining include the delightful La Pasta, a casual sidewalk café that serves Italian favorites late into the evening. A special treat on Friday evenings is the Grand Gala Jamaican Street Dance that fills the town center. The abundant yet beautifully presented buffets are spectacular and chefs are on hand making fresh salad, fresh grilled lobster and jerk chicken.

The smell of Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee is everywhere and can be served anywhere and anytime be it in your room or on the beach. Be on the lookout for the 'Sugar Cane Man' and the 'Tropical Fruit Lady' as they circulate throughout the resort serving their fresh delicacies to guests.
