War Time Air Travel Chart

If you are confused by each airline's war time cancellation policies, you aren't alone. Each airline policy is unique and varies widely. To make deciphering each one a bit easier, view the chart below and see where each airline stands in the most important ticketing criteria.

Northwest Airlines For domestic and international tickets issued before March 19, 2003. Also, allowing customers who have already departed to change flights. Qantas  For tickets purchased in US, Canada & Mexico between March 7 and March 31. And, for tickets purchased within 60 days of war. To take advantage of this policy, customers must make the change within 30 days of the start of the war , but no later than their originally scheduled date of travel. Also, allowing customers who have already departed to change flights. Yes Yes If new rebooked flight is less than original, a non-refundable travel voucher will be offered. SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) For tickets purchased prior to March 19 for travel through May 31. Also, allowing customers who have already departed to change flights. Southwest Airlines Southwest's policy has always been no charge for changes. Yes Yes Fully refundable tickets that do not carry restrictions may be applied toward future travel or refunded for one year from the date of issue. Prior to first flight. 12 months from the original date of purchase.
Spirit Airlines Anyone currently holding or who wishes to purchase tickets may make changes to their itinerary or put their plans on hold. United Airlines For all tickets issued on or before March 31 with scheduled travel on or before May 18 . Also, allowing customers who have already departed to change flights. US Airways For tickets issued on or before April 2 for travel originating March 19 through June 17. Also, allowing customers who have already departed to change flights. US/Canada flights must begin June 17.  International by Dec. 15,
Virgin Atlantic For travelers flying between the U.S and U.K and U.K to Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo who are ticketed by March 25.  Also, allowing customers who have already departed to change flights.
